Conference and Group Meeting Facilities

The Bodega Marine Laboratory maintains a variety of meeting rooms and comfortable housing units to accommodate meeting and conference participants during the UC fall and winter quarters (mid-September to mid-March).

Conferences

Conferences and groups please contact Cherrise Hannon (707) 875-2003 to ensure availability, prior to submitting an application and follow up reservation request.

After contacting Cherrise Hannon please submit an application form and activity request via the Reservation & Application System to reserve conference space and/or accommodations. Once approved, we will email you a reservation confirmation and any other necessary arrival information.

Lodging

Our facilities include double and single rooms with and without private baths, with and without kitchenettes, and one to three bedroom units (see rates and descriptions of housing options).

The BML Housing Enclave is located in a remote location with no direct public transportation service approximately one mile from the Laboratory, with access by car, bicycle or on foot. Winter months can be very quiet with few long-term residents on site. The town of Bodega Bay has services including a Post Office, several small grocery/general stores, restaurants and gas stations.

Contact the Housing Manager, Cherrise Hannon, 707-875-2003, for further accommodation information.

Dining Service

Full meal service can be provided to conference groups in the Housing dining hall or, by special arrangement, in the Laboratory.

A permit is required to serve alcoholic beverages:

Contact Cherrise Hannon, 707-875-2003, for further information on meal service.

Payment

Arrangement for payment for the use of facilities must be arranged through Cherrise Hannon, 707-875-2003

Policies

University regulations require that Reserve users sign waivers before walking anywhere on the Reserve. This includes the area surrounding the housing facility. Exceptions are limited to UC employees acting within the course and scope of their employment, and UC students accompanied by their instructors who have signed class waivers. Minors under 18 years of age must have waivers signed by parent or guardian.

Recreational use is limited to the development enclaves, shown on the map. We invite you to enjoy but respect these areas, within which the rules of the Reserve are somewhat relaxed. The dashed- dotted lines (___..___) describe the boundaries of the enclaves.

If you are in doubt as to what constitutes reasonable “recreation” or the enclave boundaries and trails, please see inquire with the Reserve Research Coordinator, Jackie Sones, 707-875-2021.

Wireless Access

Wireless at Housing

  • Wireless at BML Housing (called “Housing”) requires an access password, please obtain from IT or Cherrise Hannon, 707-875-2003.
  • Note:

The strength of the wireless signal where you are located @ Housing will impact your internet up/download speeds. As you move around the facility you will notice better performance the closer you are to one of the 3 wireless access points, located in the Dining Hall, Miwok and Oolok.

Individual experience/performance of Housing internet service will be affected by the availability of existing bandwidth, particularly during peak occupancy/peak usage times.

Wireless at BML

  • At the Laboratory visitors may use the wireless network “BML Public” which requires no access password (just agree to the terms of use in your browser).

Questions regarding network services should be directed to BML IT.
