Summer Session Students Make a Splash with Short Films

Coastal Marine Research (BIS 124) was taught at Bodega Marine Laboratory during Summer Session I by Professor Eric Sanford. Undergraduate students in this course receive training in all aspects of the research process while conducting independent research projects in teams of two. Students also develop communication skills by sharing their findings with other scientists through written reports and oral presentations.

Research Rockstars

Students from 2021's BIS 124 (Coastal Marine Research) class won first and third prize, plus two honorable mentions, in the 2022 Research Rockstars Undergrad Slam Video Contest. Congratulations to Su Chung and Yessica Gonzalez for winning first prize, Michaela Lai and Nicole Cox for winning third prize, and Tena Dhayalan, Adri Penix, Jacquie Rajerison, and May Schulz for their honorable mentions.

Undergraduate Student Researchers Unveil Science Communication Videos

Students in BIS 124 (Coastal Marine Research) completed 2021 Summer Sessions at the Bodega Marine Laboratory by compiling the research they conducted during the course into these engaging and innovative 3-minute videos for a general audience. Join them as they meet urchins, crabs, snails, and bat stars in videos that integrate their training in research and science communication.
