UC Davis DEIJ Leader Fellowships

The UC Davis College of Biological Sciences champions Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) through the Graduate Student DEIJ Leader Fellowship program. Now in its second year, the program empowers enterprising graduate students committed to enhancing DEIJ within the CBS community by supporting projects aimed at fostering a more inclusive academic environment. 

Among this year’s distinguished recipients of the DEIJ Leader Fellowship are CMSI affiliates Tracie Hayes and Darien Satterfield.

Congratulations to Mei Blundell, who won a 2023 NSF GRFP!

CMSI Affiliate Mei Blundell is among the winners of the 2023 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) awards. The purpose of the NSF GRFP is to ensure the quality, vitality, and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States. GRFP seeks to broaden participation in science and engineering of underrepresented groups, including women, minorities, persons with disabilities, and veterans.

ESA Selects 2022 Graduate Student Policy Award Recipients

The Ecological Society of America (ESA) announced the Katherine S. McCarter Graduate Student Policy Award (GSPA) 2022 cohort, which includes two UC Davis Coastal and Marine Sciences Institute affiliates, Jessica Griffin and Sophie Zhu. This award provides graduate students with the opportunity to participate in a virtual Congressional Visits Day.

Sea Grant and NOAA Fisheries Announce 2021 Joint Fellowship Program Awardees

Sea Grant and NOAA Fisheries recently announced the 2021 National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS)-Sea Grant Joint Fellowship recipients. Five population and ecosystem dynamics fellowships and two marine resource economics fellowships were awarded through this national program.

The fellowships offered within this program are aimed at training the next generation of specialized experts in fisheries management. The program addresses the critical need for future fisheries scientists with expertise in stock assessment and related fields.
